GERMAN-BORN MULTIMEDIA ARTIST ANNINA ROESCHEISEN PRESENTS FIRST SOLO EXHIBITION IN NEW YORKNOVEMBER 4 – 29, 2015 at 90 Stanton Street, New York

This November, multimedia artist Annina Roescheisen will present a new series of work in her inaugural solo exhibition in New York, marking her entry into the New York art world. Titled What Are You Fishing For?, the exhibition features video art and a series of photographs. It will be on view at 90 Stanton Street from November 4 – 29, 2015.

What Are You Fishing For? is strongly influenced by the artists consolidated knowledge of humanities. Set in long steady shots with an added instrumental soundtrack, the film has the impact of a cinematic recording. Through an emotionally charged visual narrative, it powerfully mirrors the artist's inner landscape giving way to melancholy and a tangible coldness, while simultaneously touching on the elementary needs of human nature. It consists of one film and an edition of seven photographs.

“Art for me is about human emotions, about depth, growth, transformation and liberation.”

LEICA GALLERY SALZBURG PRESENTS LARGE-SCALE PHOTOGRAPHS BY CONCEPTUAL ARTIST ROLF SACHS - Camera in Motion – from Chur to Tirano: Captured Moments in Time

LEICA GALLERY SALZBURG PRESENTS LARGE-SCALE PHOTOGRAPHS BY CONCEPTUAL ARTIST ROLF SACHS - Camera in Motion – from Chur to Tirano: Captured Moments in Time

August 14 – October 17, 2015

Opening: August 13, 2015 - 4:30 PM - Rolf Sachs will be present.

On view from August 14 – October 17, Leica Gallery Salzburg will present large-scale photographs by conceptual London-based artist Rolf Sachs. Camera in Motion: from Chur to Tirano, a project supported by Leica Camera AG, will feature snapshots of the spectacular landscape along the railway line Albula/Bernina, declared a World Heritage Site in 2008 by UNESCO. 13 photographs will unveil the impressive scenery throughout the seasons and varying weather conditions.

Mirrored in the speed of the journey, Sachs' photographs capture the instant of a fleeting moment, disclosing the inevitable passing of time. Through the contrast of the focused object and passing landscape, Sachs' pieces levitate between abstraction and reality, photography and painting, the latter suggested by the blurry quality of the landscape that, as if applied by lavish brushstrokes, becomes painterly. Sachs' subjects are houses, trains, and forests alternately bathed in a mix of light and shadow. Rooted to the ground, they silently witness the train rushing past them.

ART COMMUNICATION + BRAND CONSULTANCY IS DELIGHTED TO WORK WITH GERMAN-BORN, LONDON-BASED ARTIST ROLF SACHS STARTING JUNE 2015

ART COMMUNICATION + BRAND CONSULTANCY IS DELIGHTED TO WORK WITH GERMAN-BORN, LONDON-BASED ARTIST ROLF SACHS STARTING JUNE 2015

Conceptual artist and designer, Rolf Sachs is recognised for his distinctive, multidisciplinary approach. His work takes inspiration from everyday objects that contain 'traces of life.' It is the human touch within objects which fuels his thinking, allowing him to move freely between art and design, searching for the ‘inner soul,’ character and honesty in unexpected and overlooked places. Sachs challenges the way materials are used and handled, through constant experimentation and invention; he thrives on pushing materials to their limits to create something new and surprising. Whether creating furniture objects, photography, sculpture, set-design, interior architecture, photography or installations, Sachs sets out to challenge preconceptions by shunning the decorative and questioning the very nature of form and function. His work encourages playful interaction and an emotional connection with familiar things, often presented in unfamiliar ways. He set up his London based studio rolf sachs fun c'tion in 1994, which has now become a creative laboratory, brimming with ideas, prototypes and creations, where, together with his team, he fuses design with the arts.
